CIOs Weigh Windows 10 Integration, New Features
Global Risk Technologies™ CIO Monica Eaton-Cardone was featured in The Wall Street Journal, discussing Microsoft’s new Windows 10 operating system. Eaton-Cardone and a handful of other CIOs who tested Windows 10 offered their opinion on the new system and the likelihood of adopting it.
The long testing cycle of the Windows 10 operating system yielded the chance for a number of companies to see how their current applications could coexist with the Microsoft product before fully integrating. This test opportunity allowed for audiences to gain insight to new features including the mobile platform’s security efforts.
The Wall Street Journal article explains how Windows 10 will have small, regular updates rather than major overhauls, which is a very attractive aspect of the software for all businesses. With this in mind, Microsoft will be providing an operating system that should make CIOs’ lives much easier.
The CIOs’ hesitance to migrate away from Windows 7 is apparent. Before the upgrade is made, it is important to ensure the system can seamlessly integrate with existing applications. If the decision is made to migrate to Windows 10, Eaton-Cardone says she will bypass Windows 8 and proceed straight to Windows 10.
The Wall Street Journal shared Eaton-Cardone’s plans for the technology upgrade.
[blockquote]One early tester, Monica Eaton-Cardone, CIO at Global Risk Technologies™, doesn’t plan to move from Windows 7 for at least another year, probably closer to two or three. She plans to skip Windows 8 and move straight to Windows 10. But before she does, she wants to see smoother integration with existing applications, she said via email.[/blockquote]
Eaton-Cardone commented further:
[blockquote]Nothing in particular makes me want to move out of the gate anytime soon.[/blockquote]
