Global Risk Technologies™’ CIO a Finalist for Prestigious IT Award

Monica Eaton-Cardone, the CIO of Global Risk Technologies™, was recently nominated for the prestigious Women in IT Awards. Event organisers have selected Eaton-Cardone as a finalist for the International Star of the Year category.

An Innovative Attempt to Level the Playing Field

The Women in IT Awards has become the largest and most influential attempt to address the gender imbalance in the technology industry. Studies have found that females fulfil only 16% of the IT industry’s roles.

Hosted by Information Age and supported by various industry sponsors, the awards ceremony exists to serve two purposes.

Baroness Shields, Minister for Internet Safety and Security, pointed out: “This is a platform not only for celebrating the achievements of female IT leaders, but also for identifying new role models for young women.”

Only 18% of students on UK computing degrees are females, proving the industry’s gender gap isn’t improving. These students need role models, and the Women in IT Awards encourages the aspirational women who hope to follow in their footsteps.
